1.      Business Chinese

 

This is the advanced level of Chinese and our focus is on the business use.  Doing business in Chinese is a matter of not only language but also culture.  Thus, the purpose of our language learning is not only to provide students different language skills but also to integrate the culture into students’ life. We also believe this is the essence of doing business in Greater China. After finishing this course, students should be able to conduct decent business in Chinese.

 

2.      Finance in Greater China

 

We will introduce the financial markets and systems of both sides of Taiwan Strait . The financial markets of greater China are quite different from those of the US or European countries.  Many foreign investors spend a lot of time to get familiar with those characteristics. In this course, we will make such a learning curve short. We will also pay attention to the historical events in Asian market, for example, the Asian financial crisis of 1997, and their impact on the world economy.

 

3.      Marketing in Greater China

 

Marketing is highly culture-related.  Thus, the marketing skills excelling in Western societies are not the Holy Grail in Greater China. This is a common mistake by foreigners doing business here. In this course, we will learn special treatment in marketing in Greater China.

 

4.      Technology Development in Greater China

 

Taiwan Strait probably is the biggest channel of the world technology development as Taiwan and Chinese coastal provinces are the base of technology exportation. Without understanding the operation of Greater China’s technology management, it is very hard to do business there. For example, the value of technology stocks usually account for fifty percent of the total market value in Taiwan . Thus, investment in Taiwan ’s stock market should take into consideration the business of technology.

 

5.      Cultural and creative industries in Greater China

 

The 5,000-year Chinese culture is one of the most splendid in the world. Lots of heritages and treasures have been developed and created and this has not been interrupted. As the economy is progressing, cultural and creative industries have been proved to be one of the most profitable economic activities in Greater China. In this unique course, we will introduce culture and creative industries of the Chinese societies. Students will learn how to invest in the products of these industries, how to develop taste for Chinese culture, the sprouting cultural creative industries in Greater China, and so on.
